The enclosed AutoDL.TXT file is a text file of a White Knight procedure that was modified from a previous procedure that was uploaded earlier into the Freesoft RT. I think the author was Bob Daniel, but I just can't remember. Anyway,I apologize for portions of anyones work that was blatantly ripped off. This procedure works identically to the previous version uploaded by Mr. Daniel except that it supports the SPEAK RCMD that was included on your WK 11 master disk (gives it a personal touch) and has the ability to jump from RT to RT to download files from different libraries. I modified the procedure because by brother, who lives in a small town, doesn't have a local GEnie access number and he owns a PC (he's the black sheep of the family), so I send him IBM files from GEnie which I download using my MAC. I usually like to get online to download file descriptions from the MAC RT, IBM RT, MACPRO RT and FREESOFT RT and then get back online to download all files I want unattended in one session. This procedure allows be to do this.
Several comments:
1. The SPEAK RCMD support is pure gingerbread and not necessary to run the procedure. I have identified portions of the procedure to be deleted if you do not wish to be Macintalked at.
2. Be sure that, when the window comes up asking for library page numbers, you enter only one library page number and then hit return to get a new window. In effect, only one library page number can be input per window. Don't try to enter all library page numbers separated by commas or the procedure will not work properly.
When the window comes up that asks for file numbers, you may enter all file numbers separated by a comma, BUT only if all the file numbers are from the same library. File numbers must be entered in the same chronological order as page numbers were so that file numbers will be properly matched with the library they belong to. The procedure is written to look for the word NEXT to know when to jump to a different RT. Enter the word NEXT only in a new window and don't try to put it at the end of a series of file numbers.
Let's do a quick example. Say I wanted to download files from two different libraries - the MAC RT and the IBM RT. The first window to come up would ask for page numbers. I would enter 606 and hit return, the same window would come up and I would enter 616 and hit return, the same window would come up and I would hit return with no input to proceed with file number input. The next window to come up would ask for file numbers. I would enter the file numbers I wanted from the MAC RT (remember it was the first page number I entered) with each file separated by a comma (10001,10002,10003,10004, etc...) and hit return. The same window would come up in which I would enter only the word NEXT and hit return. The same window would come up in which I would enter the file numbers I wanted from the IBM RT with each file separated by a comma (20001,20002,20003,20004,etc...) and hit return. Finally, the same window would come up in which I would hit return with no input to proceed with downloading of files. The routine with the word NEXT would have to be alternated between each successive batch of file numbers that were input. Clear as mud, eh?
3. I use this procedure in conjunction with two another procedures which automatically download short and long file decriptions in any library. If anybody would like a copy of either one, drop me a note in the mail and I'll be glad to upload either one of them.
4. This procedure assumes that you are using the ZMODEM protocol and have the auto receive option on.
5. I've been using this procedure for a few weeks now and it seems to work fine. However, I make to guarantees that blah, blah, blah......
